WTF? Fantasia Blames Race In Media Coverage Of Affair!
0
Former American Idol Fantasia preforms at the Gospel Music Festival
Fantasia has been in the news over the last couple of months due to her relationship with her married boyfriend Antwuan Cook. By now you probably heard about the lawsuit, the suicide attempt and the two of them moving in together.
Someone, anyone please tell me why a woman would get involved with a married man, and short of being a completly retarded individual, Fantasia has to know this will not end well. Rather than shy away from the media, Fantasia has stepped forward to discuss the affair because that’s what you do when you’re caught having an affair with a married person!
In a recent interview Fantasia tells Vibe that she feels her “African and more ethnic features” played a role in the coverage she received from the mainstream media regarding her affair with her married boyfriend as opposed to the coverage Alicia Keys received.
Yes, I do. I really feel like it does. I was on Nancy Grace, CNN, every gospel station and in every magazine and every newspaper. It was on. You would have thought I was the President or something.
She said she wasn’t surprised though because she has had to deal with it since her “Idol”days.
“I’ve battled and have had to deal with that before. Lord forgive me and I don’t want to offend anybody but when [I did Idol] it seemed like everybody there was Barbied out. Slim, long hair, light eyes, light-skinned. And here I come with my dark skin, full nose, short hair and full lips — it was hard.”
“They never put me in those magazines [featuring] the red carpet. Everybody there has long hair and everybody is bright-skinned, and I was like, ‘But wait a minute. They never gave me that.’ That bothered me. And then I tried hard to find people to dress me and they still would not put me there [in those magazines].”
“One day I was like, ‘that’s okay’, but I had to get to that point. I am a dark-skinned, full-lipped sister and it’s all right. Brown is in baby, and it ain’t going anywhere.” —
Fans or not fans of Fantasia, but this had nothing to do with the color of her skin…NEWSFLASH…you broke up a marriage!! Honestly it is my opinion that the media goes way too soft on cheaters and those who facilitate the cowards who cheat. But maybe that’s just me..

August 26, 2010 – Returning with the party anthem of the summer, ever-glamorous KACI BATTAGLIA has done it again, following up her hit single “Crazy Possessive,” with yet another smash: “Body Shots” featuring super-star rapper LUDACRIS. Already exploding at radio and charting in clubs across the country, Kaci welcomes the reception with open arms, as she awaits the release of her aptly titled album “Bring It On” (Curb Records) on September 21st.
Based on a conversation that Kaci had had with some of her girlfriends right before her 21st birthday, “Body Shots’” sassy lyrics were penned by Battaglia, who has co-written all of the songs on her upcoming release. “I had been talking to some of my friends about what we were going to do when I turned 21,” Kaci explains “and they were pushing for me to try a body shot. Later that day, when we were in the studio, I decided to see if I could capture what that experience might be like in a song. It was really fun to write and it already goes down a storm when I perform it live!”
Kaci and Ludacris recently shot a music video for “Body Shots” which you can see below: Battaglia says, “Ludacris and I had an incredible time shooting the clip with European director, Stephanie Pistel – working in studios in both New York and Miami. We took a very symbolic approach to the video and hope that we came up with something classy, fresh and fun.”
“Body Shots” was written by Kaci with long-time collaborators Michael Grant, Arianna Wilson, and Jarreau and Trevor Pitts. The song is the second release taken from her upcoming album “Bring It On”. “Much like this new single, the album title came to me quite easily,” says Battaglia. “I was inspired by personal positivity and power. I am ready for anything that comes my way – and in fact, I can’t wait!”
Kaci had much success with her 2009 debut “Crazy Possessive” which she describes as “an electro-pop dance track with an edge – definitely aggressive, which fits the song, but a lot of fun. It is a strong topic with a positive message, and a lot of girls are able to relate to it.”

World Famous Songstress Aaliyah! R.I.P
It’s hard to believe that it was 9 years ago today (6:15pm EST) that the life of Aaliyah Haughton was cut short in a tragic plane crash in Marsh Harbor bahamas. She had just wrapped up shooting her music video for her hit song “Rock The Boat”. It seems that Aaliyah and her production crew were anxious to head back to the states and left a day earlier than planned. Aaliyah also was due to fly out to Australia to shoot her part in Matrix Reloaded.
I personally didn’t become aware of Aaliyah until the allegations that she at 15 years old had married her then producer R. Kelly in a private ceremony in 94. I oddly enough actually got to meet Aaliyah in 1997. When I met Aaliyah she was enjoying the success of her single “If Your Girl Only Knew.”
As I remember her, she was so vibrant and fun. Very down to Earth considering her age and popularity. I remember her showing up for her 4th shoot of the day at around midnight for a magazine, and still being so much fun and so nice to everyone on the set. I really wondered how she did it. How was she able to be poked and prodded and pulled in so many directions yet keep her composure. Certainly a lesson to be taken here by oh so MANY of today’s celebrities and want to be celebs.
Aaliyah certainly delivered. Not only was she an incredible performer but also an incredible person. It is understandable that so many miss her influence. And I for one wonder what songs would she have burning up the charts right now if it had not been for that unfortunate accident.
The below video is a tribute to Aaliyah! As always, please feel free to share your comments, memories, or thoughts.
LL Cool J – It’s Time For War!

LL Cool J - The King of Hip Hop
As I have been working on the new upcoming reality show for High Speed Magazine I’ve been thinking a LOT about music, motivation and all the past events that have led me here to this point. And that includes EVERYONE in my past that has either been with me, against me or turned their backs.
It is very easy to become disheartened when you’re on a quest and things just aren’t working out the way you’d hoped or people keep getting in your way. Worse yet is when people you thought were your friends and on your team prove they simply aren’t. This led me to think about others who have gone through the same things and sparked thoughts to hip – hop music.
Why? Well because no other genre’ of music chronicles struggles to success than Hip Hop. And that led me to think about LL Cool J who I will say is hands down the reigning king of Hip Hop, and I dare you to prove other wise.

LL Cool J
LL Cool J has endured for almost 3 decades, and is arguably one of the only hip hop artists to lead the way in diversifying his portfolio of performance branching out into television as well as movies. Starting with his role in the classic Michael J. Fox movie “The Hard Way” Since then LL Cool J has been blazing his way in media. And no matter what he’s maintained a clean cut image regardless of what he’s doing.
The other day my MP3 player randomly selected a track that I hadn’t heard before, (The benefit of having 3TB of music) and I thought to myself, this sounds very much like LL Cool J. The name of the track was “Time For War” from his exit 13 album. Oddly enough I had no idea that he had any new albums out but I digress.
This track pretty much said everything that I’ve been feeling lately with the high volumes of people I find who are out and out haters or frienemies in my path. As I listened to the track I found that it is a track I could certainly relate to.
I particularly enjoyed the verse where he says “I always shine brighter when I’m under attack. I might be down for a moment but I always come back.” There are numerous other powerful verses in this track that will infuse you with power and purpose!
Beyond burning up turntables and the movie screen LL Cool J plays Sam Hanna a former Navy SeAL on CBS’ hit spin-off show N.C.I.S Los Angeles also starring Chris O’Donell.
Without a doubt LL Cool J is the undisputed King of all Hip Hop! Long Live The King!

Chalice Serrano and Kristen Faulconer to Record Theme Song For High Speed Magazine Show
It’s official that the upcoming High Speed Magazine show is having two incredible artists working on the theme song in what is certain to be an incredible collaborative effort.
It has been decided that singers Chalice Serrano who is about to re-embark on her world tour and Kristen Faulconer who is about to release a new album due at the end of the year will be collaborating on the the title track for the upcoming High Speed Magazine television show.
The track will be made available on iTunes and we will be shooting a full music video to go with the theme song when Chalice returns from her tour.
Below are a couple of samples of their music. As you can tell both artists have a very unique and distinctive style so it will be very interesting to see how they come together to develop a theme with mass appeal.
When I first met Chalice it was a couple of years ago shortly after Hot Import Nights – Los Angeles and I ended up at a studio where she was recording a track with Salt Lake city hip hop artist Calico. The interesting thing about it was that she had the flu and yet she still laid down some incredible hooks!
Many of you will remember Kristen Faulconer from her layout in the June 2009 issue. Kristen’s music style is sometimes pop, sometimes rock, sometimes pop rock. We are looking very forward to seeing what exactly is going to come of this collab. Of course we’ll keep you posted!
